Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. Mitchell began her career working as a TV and radio reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. She was promoted to Washington general reporter for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was host and an expert panelist on the TV show Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel at the 1988 Presidential Debates, which featured George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her role to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. Her reporting included a number of crucial stories such as the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms, as well as the issue of arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively together with President Reagan for summits along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
